Games on the list

The room lists two games: Texas Hold'em and Omaha. Both are dealt by professional dealers on level two. Limit Hold'em runs at three stakes: 4/8, 10/20 and 20/40. Before you ask, the pair of numbers is the bet size. The smaller figure applies in the early betting rounds and the larger one in the later rounds.

No Limit Hold'em also runs, along with higher-limit poker. In No Limit, a bet is not held to a fixed size. Omaha appears on the room's list next to Hold'em. Players who want Omaha details can call the room at 519-757-3306.

    The rake

    How the rake is taken

Rake is the share of each pot that the house keeps. In Limit Hold'em at 4/8, 10/20 and 20/40, it is 10% of the pot up to a maximum of $10. No Limit and higher-limit poker carry the same 10%, with the cap at $15.

Once the cap is reached, the rake stops growing. A pot can keep getting larger, but its rake stays at $10 or $15, depending on the game.

The flop is the first three shared cards, dealt face up. Under the posted rule of no flop, no rake, a hand that ends before those cards appear pays no rake. After the flop, the rake is at least $2.

    Jackpot drop

    The jackpot drop

The room keeps two Bad Beat Jackpots. One is local, for Brantford only. The other is shared with Pickering Casino Resort, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto and Elements Casino Mohawk. Both apply to Limit and No Limit Hold'em cash games.

Money for them comes from the pot itself. Once a pot reaches $20 including the rake, $1 to $5 is taken from it for the jackpots. The amounts are posted and updated daily at 4 p.m. Before you ask: a payout requires valid government-issued photo ID.

    FAQ

    Short answers

What does a hand that ends before the flop cost?

It pays no rake at all. The posted rule is no flop, no rake.

When does the rake stop going up?

It stops at the cap for the game. In Limit Hold'em that is 10% up to $10, and in No Limit and higher-limit games 10% up to $15. After the flop, the rake is never under $2.

Is the jackpot money part of the rake?

The room posts the two separately: the rake with its cap, and the jackpot money. In Limit and No Limit Hold'em cash games, $1 to $5 comes out of a pot once it reaches $20, rake included.

    Is Omaha on the list?

Yes, the room lists Omaha alongside Texas Hold'em. For seats in any game, a player uses the Poker Atlas app or calls the room at 519-757-3306.
